On Thursday 1st July Chilwell dp will be celebrating its fifth anniversary.
Since the practice opened in 2005 we have completed over twenty thousand courses
of treatment. We are pleased to be able to say that the whole team still believes
very strongly in the practice’s founding principles: to promote preventative
dentistry and be committed to educating adults and children about good oral health.
 As part of our celebrations we
went to the 40th Macmillan Charity Day at York races.
Thankfully the weather was great and some of us were lucky enough to back a couple
of the winners which made the day even more enjoyable. Click on the photo to see

Congratulations
Many of you will know that Sarah, one of our associate
dentists, went on maternity leave at the start of April. Well, congratulations are
now due. On 5th May Sarah gave birth to a healthy little girl, Martha Alice, weighing
7lb 15oz. Both are doing extremely well. Sarah will be returning to us in a part-time
capacity in February next year.
 Whilst we’re handing out the congratulations
we shouldn’t forget two of our nurses: Hayley gained her National Dental Nursing
Qualification and Rachel her Dental Radiography Qualification at the beginning of
this year. The hard work they put in paid off. The entire team is very proud of
their achievements.

Welcomes and a Goodbye
Amanda, our Dental Therapist, has now joined the team
at Chilwell dp on a full-time basis and is available from Monday to Thursday for
all your therapy needs.
 We have one new addition to our multi-disciplinary
dental team. Peter Aylott is a Clinical Dental Technician and joined us in May.
He specialises in the manufacture and fitting of removable dental appliances including
dentures. Properly constructed and designed dentures bring many benefits, they will
make you look younger and increase your confidence. He is available on Mondays.
You don’t need to be registered with the practice to make use of his services.
If you would like to have a chat about what options are available please get in
touch.
We would like to take the opportunity to thank Saba Haboobi for her time at Chilwell
dp. She was a valued member of our team and we will all be sad to see her go. We
wish her all the best in all her future endeavours. As a replacement for Saba a
new dentist, Jasmin Begum, will be joining us in August.

Kid’s Corner
 The summer holidays are coming and
we know that you’ll want to enjoy yourself after a long school year. You’ll
be thinking of eating ice-cream and drinking fizzy pop. Remember that these contain
a lot of sugar and are not good for your teeth if you have too much of them. Have
them as an occasional treat and make sure you still brush your teeth two times a
day throughout the holidays.

Our childrens’ activity events have become very popular but they wouldn’t
be so successful without your help. Our next event will be held during the October
half-term. Make sure to remind your parents so they can put it in their diaries.

Practice Acheivement
A recent Department of Health directive stated that,
with reference to dental practices, “patients deserve to be treated in a safe and
clean environment with consistent standards of care every time they receive treatment”.
A recent audit of Chilwell dp by our PCT found that we are compliant with current
best practice.
