Children's Campaign for a brighter smile
We believe very strongly in preventative dentistry
and therefore we are committed to educating adult and children about Good Oral Health.
We believe that prevention is better than cure and in our society where fizzy drinks,
sweets and acidic citrus fruits are consumed in large amounts, people are at higher
risks of needing treatments. We believe that children need to be educated at a higher
level to ensure all children know how to brush their teeth correctly and be informed
what foods and drink will harm their Oral Health. This is why we have trained Oral
Health Educators holding regular events to achieve this.
One of our associate dentists
(Dr Sarah Smith) has decided to work at Chilwell dp on a full-time basis. Many of
you will know her as the bright, bubbly young lady with the curly hair. For those
who haven't had the pleasure of meeting her yet, Sarah is an excellent and very
experienced dentist; she recently sat her MJDF exams which she passed with flying
colours. She also has a clinical attachment at Leicester Royal Infirmary with Mr
R.F. Deans. The increased availability in Sarah's time at Chilwell dp means that
she is now the primary NHS dentist and you may find that this is who you will be
seeing for your continuing dental treatment and oral health care needs at the practice.
Rest assured that all of the team at Chilwell dp are committed to ensuring that
you have the best oral care provision possible at all times. Sarah is a valued member
of our team and is instrumental in helping us to continue delivering on our promise
to you.

Cosmetic Services
Over the past few years the demand for cosmetic dentistry has grown immensely
thanks to television programmes like "10 Years Younger". So if you are embarrassed
about your smile we can offer you fantastic ways to improve your appearance with
minimal intervention, increasing your confidence. Many people have teeth that are
discoloured especially from drinking tea, coffee, red wine and by smoking. Other
people have darker teeth due to medication or age. The good news is that here at
Chilwell dp we can tailor make treatment packages to meet everyone's needs, giving
you a smile to be proud of.
Cosmetic cleaning is a quick and pain free way using the latest technology to remove
staining from teeth. All it takes is 20 minutes to put the dazzle back into your
smile. Giving you a white bright smile to be proud of!

Charity work
Here at Chilwell dp we are committed to helping others
less fortunate than ourselves.
You may have been aware that last November Eamonn McDaid, the Practice Principal
undertook an amazing challenge of cycling 550Km in 6 days across Vietnam and Cambodia
to raise much needed funds for the charity Norwood.

Norwood is one of the U.K's largest charities supporting children, families and
adults with learning disabilities and social disadvantages.
Congratulations to Eamonn on raising £4,000 and for coming back in one piece!
Other members of staff have been busy too. 3 members
of our team, Anna, Karen & Hayley took part in the Race for Life in June and Vikki
and Sarah successfully made it to the Summit of Kilimanjaro in August.
The practice are participating in the Playtex MoonWalk in May 2009. We also have a patient
of the practice (Barbara) climbing Ben Nevis in November for Breast Cancer Awareness.
We have chosen the cancer charities for this year
but if you have any suggestions for our charity work next year then please let us
know.

Protecting the world we live
in
From the start, one of our commitments here at Chilwell
dp is to be as "green" as possible.
Here are just a few of the things that we do:
- We use as little paper as we can by using as much digital technology as possible.
Just by sending text message reminders we save reams of it.
- We have always used an amalgam separator so that we don't pollute the environment
with waste materials.
- Most of us either walk or cycle to work.
- And of course we recycle as much as we can.
If you have any green ideas, why don't you drop us an email and share them with
us.
We would love to know
